Wombat Security Announces New Feature to Reinforce Secure Employee Behavior against Phishing

Wombat’s New PhishAlarm enables employees to immediately report suspected phishing emails

Pittsburgh, PA—Aug. 18—Wombat Security Technologies (Wombat) today announced a new feature in its highly acclaimed security awareness and training platform that reinforces secure employee behavior in the face of growing volumes of phishing emails. Wombat’s new PhishAlarm® is an email reporting add-in for Microsoft Outlook that enables end users to report suspected phishing emails to security and incident response teams with a single mouse click. Several of Wombat’s customers from industries such as global manufacturing, food and beverage, energy, and consulting have already been using PhishAlarmTM, and the initial version is being offered for free as part of Wombat’s award winning PhishGuru® simulated attack service.

According to the Senior Cyber Security Analyst of a multinational energy company, “We’ve been using Wombat’s PhishAlarm product for some time and can already see the positive impact it’s having on our organization. PhishAlarm easily replaced antiquated suspicious email reporting with a consistent and user friendly process that positively affected employee behavior.”

As part of Wombat’s Continuous Training Methodology, PhishAlarm reinforces the right actions that are key to achieving long term behavior change and protecting organizations from attack.

Benefits include:

  • Shortens the time it takes information security analysts to recognize and respond to phishing attacks

  • Provides positive behavior reinforcement by immediately thanking end users (via a pop-up message or email) for reporting suspected phishing emails and encouraging them to continue those actions in the future

  • Simplifies the process of reporting email-based phish to abuse boxes and security teams

“Future versions of PhishAlarm will give security officers enhanced intelligence to quickly act on phishing attacks as they are reported,” said Joe Ferrara President and CEO, Wombat Security. “We continue to keep the needs of security officers as a driving force behind our solutions. Wombat's best-of-breed security education solutions, including our anti-phishing products, are appreciated by our customers because of their effectiveness and ability to deliver results for the organization.”

Recent awards and recognition for Wombat include winning two Info Security Products Guide Awards, winning the Cyber Defense Innovator Award, being named one of the 20 Most Promising Enterprise Security Companies in 2015, winner of the 2015 Pennsylvania Governor’s Impact Awards and being designated one of the hot 500 Cybersecurity Companies to Watch in 2015.
