Wombat Security Technologies Unveils New Security Awareness and Training Modules to Help Protect Companies Against Advanced Cyber Threats

Wombat’s New Security Essentials and Mobile Device Training Modules as well as all Training Modules are Now Available in Russian and Dutch

Pittsburgh, PA – March 31, 2015 Wombat Security Technologies (Wombat), a leading provider of cyber security awareness and training solutions, today announced that it has added two new security awareness training modules, Security Essentials and Mobile Device Training, to its arsenal of award winning products that educate employees worldwide. In addition, Wombat has added two new languages to enable global companies to raise the bar against phishing, social networking and other threats. Wombat continues to build the right tools to enable businesses to leverage the most innovative security education solution that engages employees as the last line of defense against cyber-attacks at work and at home.

“More and more high profile security breaches are being traced back to the employee, and often times a mobile endpoint, due to the lack of knowledge about how they are being tricked by the hackers,” according to Wesley McPherson, Research Manager – Security & Risk of Info-Tech Research Group.  “More than ever there is a significant need for security education and employee behavior change, coupled with more traditional security solutions, to offer a holistic approach in strengthening a company’s overall security posture.”

Like all of Wombat’s security training modules, the latest modules are designed to make employees aware of current security risks and give practical advice for defending against attacks.

  • The Security Essentials Training Module is a scenario-driven module which introduces employees to security issues that are commonly encountered in day-to-day business and personal activities. It is extremely useful for introducing new hires to simple, effective best practices they can use to improve security knowledge in the workplace and beyond.  It can also be used as an introductory module, a capstone module, or as a refresher module for those who need to stay sharp on the latest attacks.
  • The Mobile Devices Security Training Module is designed to help employees keep their mobile communications safe. Whether regarding company issued devices, or Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) devices, employees can benefit from interactive training and suggested best practices for safe use of mobile devices. This module specifically teaches the importance of physical and technical safeguards, as well as ways to improve the security of mobile communications and connections.

As with all of Wombat’s interactive training modules these new modules utilize Learning Science Principles to dramatically affect employee behavior. All of the capabilities in Wombat’s Security Education Platform are purpose-built to support a Continuous Training Methodology where security officers can Assess, Educate, Reinforce, and Measure. Wombat’s customers have experienced up to a 90% reduction in malware infections and successful phishing attacks from the wild utilizing their software and methodology.

Also announced today Wombat has translated their educational content into Russian and Dutch adding to an already robust library of languages with more languages to follow throughout the year.

“Wombat’s Security Education Platform gives security officers access to knowledge assessments, mock attacks, interactive training, awareness materials, and comprehensive reporting features,” said Joe Ferrara, President and CEO of Wombat. “Our customers have experienced significant reductions in malware infections and successful phishing attacks from the wild which really shows the effectiveness of our approach and the overall risk reduction that can be achieved.”

Wombat has deep roots in the Security Awareness and Training Market, and is a recognized authority, having recently been named a 2015 finalist for both SC Magazine USA and Europe’s “Best Security Training Platform,” Finalist for Infosecurity Products Guide’s “Best Security Training and Educational Program’ and ‘Customer Service Department of the Year’ as well as the winner of Cyber Defense Magazine’s “Most Innovative Security Training Solutions for 2015.”  Wombat and Aberdeen Group have recently released a new study on security awareness training titled "The Last Mile in IT Security: Changing User Behavior."
