Wombat Announces Channel Parter Program, Announces First Partner

Cyber security training firm Wombat Security Technologies is broadening its reach with the launch of a new channel partner program that will give it more sales people, without having to hire them in-house, and hopefully lead to increasing revenue, said CEO Joe Ferrara.

The first partner is Cymbel Corp., a Newton, Mass., IT security and compliance firm that has more than 300 clients and branches in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.

Wombat is just kicking off this new sales program and is looking for others that want to join. Establishing this type of partner program has always been part of the plan, Ferrara said, but the young companyneeded to make sure it had the staff and processes to handle the increase in communication that comes with establishing these sorts of partnerships.

The company will continue to have some direct sales as well, he said.

Last time we checked in with Wombat, the firm had about 12 people, but its head count is growing. Currently there are between 15 and 20 people, including part-time and fulltime.

During the first quarter, the company hired four new employees — two in sales and two in software development. Ferrara expects to bring on a couple more people this quarter as well.

Ferrara wouldn’t get into specifics on the company’s customers, but would say new customers coming on board are increasing in size. The firm has grown significantly in the past 12 months, he said, and developers are working on increasing the portfolio of products offered.

With the growth going on, the company is starting to hit its capacity at its current space on Henry Street in Oakland and Ferrara is starting to look around to see what other office options are out there
