As seen on Biz Journals....

The Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association is honoring four as 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year winners.

They are:

  • Outstanding Entrepreneur Award: Joe Ferrara, president and CEO, and Norman Sadeh, chairman, chief scientist and co-founder, Wombat Security Technologies. Wombat was recently acquired by Silicon Valley-based Proofpoint for $225 million.
  • Impact Award: Marc Malandro, former founding director of the University of Pittsburgh Innovation Institute. He became vice president of operations for science at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative last summer.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Ron Bianchini. A serial entrepreneur, Bianchini started and sold Scalable Technologies, Spinnaker Networks and Avere Systems. Avere was acquired by Microsoft earlier this year and Bianchini continues to lead the company’s North Shore-based engineering division.

PVCA’s annual awards luncheon is scheduled for May 15 at the Fairmont Pittsburgh. This is the 24th year for the program.
