Wombat Security's online Do's and Don'ts
Joe Ferrara, president and CEO of cyber security training startup Wombat Security Technologies chuckled when I asked him for his top online tips.
It’s a question he gets all the time.
As the company is expanding its security offerings to include not only anti-phishing training but social networking, password protection, and mobile computing.
Here are Wombat’s Do’s and Don’ts:
- Do be suspicious of emails that ask for too
much information or try to pressure you with a sense of urgency into
giving up information. Most companies say they will never ask for
passwords or other personal information through email.
- Do be
suspicious of these types of emails even if they come from a friend or
company you recognize. People’s accounts can be hacked and scammers try
to look like legitimate companies.
- Don’t blindly click links in an email. Type a location into a search engine and get there that way.
